Joe Kane allegedly repeatedly shot West Memphis officers
WARNING: This “news article” is based on only one person’s opinion. No facts can back up Miss Wolff’s claims but I’m posting it along with a few reader’s comments to demonstrate how the media is corrupt, inaccurate, and biased so badly, we can’t trust a word they say anymore.
Teen shot West Memphis officers repeatedly, investigators say
Killer, 16, showed skill with AK-47, hitting Evans 14 times and Paudert 11 times

June 10, 2010Using dashboard camera video, eyewitness statements, autopsies and other evidence, Arkansas investigators have pieced together a chilling scene in which a 16-year-old shot West Memphis Police Officer Bill Evans 14 times and Sgt. Brandon Paudert 11 times.
Miss Wolff did YOU see the video?
A spokesman for the Arkansas State Police would not comment on the department’s sweeping investigation of the violent May 20 clash along Interstate 40 that left both officers dead. But those details, and others, emerged in a preliminary report shared with Paudert’s father, West Memphis Police Chief Bob Paudert.
Paudert confirmed the details, as did other police sources.
Miss Wolff, who told you the Chief confirmed this? Paudert himself? Who are these “other police sources”? The janitor in the basement, the receptionist, or is it the grounds-keeper for the PD?
Paudert was told teenager Joseph Kane was so skilled with an AK-47 that he didn’t use the weapon’s foldable stock to improve accuracy.
Miss Wolff allegedly he was holding a rifle at close range, there would be no need to shoulder a weapon like that to be able to hit your targets. And again, where is the video to prove this?
Evans was found face down in a ditch. Brandon Paudert, 39, was shot repeatedly by the teen despite taking cover behind his Chevrolet Tahoe, a passing truck driver told investigators.
Miss Wolff did investigators give you a name of this driver? Did you get to talk to him? Have you ever been around truck drivers? They are notorious for exaggerating and lying, I should know, I work with them every day.
Investigators determined that Brandon Paudert fired seven shots from his service revolver but was struck several times in the head.
Now now now, Miss Wolff seriously, 7 SHOT SERVICE REVOLVER? 99% of all cops and especially drug cops carry semi-autos. I think that shows everything you say cannot be trusted at all. What’s wrong with you? Do you get your journalistic training from TV?
The elder Paudert was told that the teen continued to fire at Evans as his father, Jerry Kane, drove them away in a white van. Evans, 38, was transported to an area hospital, where he died.
Jerry and Joseph Kane were killed by officers 90 minutes later in a nearby Walmart parking lot. Two other lawmen, Crittenden County Sheriff Dick Busby and his chief, W.A. Wren, were wounded in that incident.
Busby was released from the Regional Medical Center at Memphis two days later; Wren is still at The Med, facing his 10th surgery, Paudert said.
Bill Sadler, a spokesman for the state police, said his office isn’t releasing any details until all written reports are completed. “It’s the only way we can ensure the integrity of the case,” Sadler said.
Miss Wolff so are you saying that no facts are confirmed? Then why are you even printing an article such as this with all hearsay? You believe what a grieving father (Cheif Paudert) supposedly confirmed as true? This same Chief that says he cannot bear to watch the dash cam video of his own flesh and blood being killed is going to confirm something for you? He can’t be trusted either.
The FBI has also been heavily involved in the investigation. Paudert said he expects an agency briefing next week.

A few reader’s comments:

Service revolver? The author needs to go back and write about dogs and cats again. What ever happened to accuracy? She probably read that in a newspaper article 20 years ago and remembered it. It is amazing how today’s journalists pull facts out of their bottoms.

in response to PumaDriver:
“While I have NO knowledge of the service weapon carried by the deceased officer, I am not aware of any medium to heavy caliber combat revolver that carries a SEVEN round cylinder. Seven shots sounds more like a semi-auto pistol, which is the more often carried(but still undergunned)weapon in law enforcement.
Based on other articles written by this newspaper involving weapons, I suspect the writer has limited or no knowledge of the various types of hand guns.”
They carry the Glock 22.

WTH is this all about? They’ve ‘pieced together’ a chilling scene? Using all kinds of ‘evidence’? What, it wasn’t obvious? Yeah I bet they ‘pieced together’ quite a few things. Obviously, the dashcam doesn’t show much of anything. So there is a lot of ad libbing going on, evidenced by the Chief saying “The information I got was”, There’s some indication and I don’t know how they know this but, I was told, he said it happened like this”, yadda yadda.
Paudert was told teenager Joseph Kane was so skilled with an AK-47 that he didn’t use the weapon’s foldable stock to improve accuracy. SURE HE WAS. HE WAS SO SKILLED HE COULD KNOCK A FLY OFF THE TOP OF THE HIMALAYA’S AT 100 YARDS. This is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever seen. He was a kid and he wasn’t trained at all. But please, continue with the ‘leaked information’ that is ruining the integrity of the case.
Notice what they don’t say. Why haven’t they said WHY there was a traffic stop. Why haven’t they said WHY someone pulled the trigger? I have my ideas. Either those cops pulled over a van and was tasering and beating the occupants and Jerry and Joe happened by, or maybe Jerry was getting beaten and tased, or it was a hit from all those drug takedowns these 2 cops did and Jerry and Joe were blamed, one just last month on April 8th, or a government hit as reported by Sorcha Faal, or it was the black community that despises them who took them down.
Those pesky 10th grade equivalents are to be watched out for at all times. Put a bead on all their heads during traffic stops! Because they could probably outshoot, outsmart, outthink and outmaneuver 2 cops with 16 years ‘experience’. Beware all you 10 grader equivalents, the West Memphis police will be gunning for you next. WHERE’S THE DASHCAM VIDEOS???

Allow me, also, to comment on the lack of journalistic integrity demonstrated by this report. It is apparent that the writer didn’t see the actual “preliminary report” that was recited in the article (maybe because it was CONFIDENTIAL), nor did she see any of the other “evidence’ cited in the first sentence of her report. She doesn’t know, for a fact, that any of her sources actually saw such a report, or even whether such a report actually exists.
Instead, she relied exclusively on hearsay statements about what was supposedly contained in that report, and hearsay statements about what the police officials who are conducting the investigation (who won’t comment because the investigation is CONFIDENTIAL) supposedly told other police officials about the investigation and about the “preliminary report.” This sounds like the party game called “Chinese whispers,” where one person whispers something to the next, and so on, and we know what happens to accuracy there.
She doesn’t even know, for a fact, that the officials conducting the investigation (the only people who know what the investigation has uncovered, so far) actually shared the information with her “sources” (including Chief Paudert), relying instead on the sources’ statements that the information was shared with them.
Trust us, her “sources” have said: we’re from the government, and we’re here to help you (remember that one?). Instead of being VERY skeptical about what she was told because of its source(s), she bought what she was told, hook, line and sinker, probably because she was more anxious to get the “scoop” than in following sound journalistic principles (as were her editors, who were AWOL on this story).
To say this is shoddy journalism would be an understatement, but it’s consistent with the lack of journalistic integrity the CA has demonstrated since this story first broke, substituting speculation, assumption and supposition for facts in their reporting. Shame on them.

The CA continues its tradition of lazy journalism. It is also no secret that the CA simply prints whatever they are told to print by area prosecutors and law enforcement agencies. Larry Buser is the biggest culprit of all. But in Cindy Wolff’s defense, it does say that Clay Bailey “contributed to this story.” Bailey is one of the senior staff reporters with the CA and has 20+ years with the CA. Unfortunately, it appears he also has succummed to the influences of CA’s sloppy, lazy reporting. How sad.
